Messy work studio & new artworks!!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog. Just been going through some things in my personal life so Nanamation production has been slow. But I am back on track now!

So first things first..here are my new prints that I have been working on. I call them my 4 seasons (Fall, Spring, Summer and Winter). They will be available to purchase at Alternative Press Expo in October. So come look for me. My booth number is 433.

Also we are getting ready to paint our studio so our studio has been a mess. We also bought some storage furniture so I have some desk room and I have been lacking storage space badly. Here is what my desk looks like. As you can see half my desk is my computer station where I do all my computer artwork and the other half is where I do my sewing. Hopefully w/the new furniture it will look much more different.

Here is my work space......

good to be home!

I am back from Phoenix and had a blast. It was good for me too. I can get so discouraged sometimes but coming to shows like Phoenix just inspire me to cont. on with Nanamation artwork. I will most likely return next year. I really enjoyed Phoenix Comicon. It is def. one of my better shows.

Among other things I finally got around to finishing John's baby blanket. I started to crochet this thing last year. It was my first time crocheting a blanket so it has some imperfections. I wanted to sew a fabric to the other end but decided to just leave it as is. Maybe the next blanket.

The Asian Heritage Festival last Sat. was great. I had a great time. It was a little to hot for us but had a good time. We bought our own shade tent instead of renting so it worked out great.

There were ton of booths and food. I got Korean BBQ to which was yummie...mmmm..Korean BBQ.

Nanamation this week...

So Nanamation has been really busy. I have a show coming up this week at the Asian Heritage Street Celebration. I am very excited and it will be my first year.

I am happy that I was able to get my 2 new shirt printed for the show. It is a lot of production work of ordering and printing but I made it in time! Here are a few other things I have been up to.

Rolling up shirts...

Making price tags. I wanted to find a better way of showing and cute way of showing prices. Usually I'll jsut cut up some paper and tape it but wanted something "better". So I got some felt paper and foam board. DUDE foam board rocks!!!!! You can cut it, draw on it and hot glue them!!! So RAD!!!

And some bags and flyers for my print backings

My Shirts Came In!

I finally got my shirts last weekend! They came out great. I'll be posting on my site later for purchase.

Passed out lion....

My little lion passed out. Whats funny is that her head is hanging out of her bed. Sometimes its totally out of her bed and it touches the floor. haha. Tell ya..she LOVES her red bed!!

Boston Cream Cupcakes!

Been dying to try this recipe...Boston Cream Cupcakes. Its basically cupcake w/custard inside and dark hard chocolate on top. mmmmm....mouth is getting watering. But Id say it was a success. I would def. make it again!

A new sketchbook

I got a new sketchbook from Barnes and Noble a few months back. This girl came to my booth and asked me to draw in her sketchbook and I was admiring the pattern. She told me she got it at Barnes and Noble so I went out that night to get the same one!

I love it dearly. I try really hard to draw in it every night but does not happen. Id say some nights I like to draw in it.

My Nanolitas!

Going to these cons I have been seeing a lot of girls dressing up in cute lolita costumes. Since I am drawing in my sketchbook at the cons I started to draw cute lolita girls...I call them My Nanolitas!

Obessing about crocheting

I have been obsessing about crochet amigurumis!!! I had a hard time learning because I could never find a book that taught left hand folks like me! So I finally took a class and they taught me but the teacher was right handed so I learned it the right hand way.

Here is my first crocheted octopus. He has even got 8 legs. Next to my favorite rad red mug

.
Next one is for my sister in law. She just had a baby and wanted a pink elephant. I just realized it is not baby proof. I should of made the eyes with felt so maybe next time.

Weekend in Napa

Last Month Tim and I went to Napa. It was a weekend of gluttony. We consumed really really REALLY good food and wine. This was our weekend plan

Friday Night - Bouchon Cafe
Saturday Day - Yountville Festival
Saturday Night - Cave Dinner at one of the wineries. It was a 6 course meal and each meal was paired w/a wine. We sat next to the Wine Owner himself.
Sunday - French Laundry. Yep you heard it right! I was able to score reservations at the French Laundry.

The place we stayed was wonderful was well. In the morning they deliver fresh bread and goodies from the Bouchon Bakery.

Here are our images posted on picasa

Survived Emerald City Comic Con

Survived Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. Seattle is such a wonderful place. It kinda reminds me of home-San Francisco.

We went to the famous fish market. Unfortunately it was closed but did get to eat some oysters and fish for dinner....mmmmmm

Here is a pic of my booth. Sorry I am slouching because I got a new low chair because the original one was broken.

Here is kid w/the best Hell Boy Costume I have seen in a long time. My booth in the back.

New Artwork

So here is my new artwork that I took to WonderCon and did really well. A new style. I will post it on my shop for purchase later this week. Its done in illustrator but I finished it off in Photoshop. Photoshop is amazing tool but it still new to me since i use Illustrator more. Then when I saw one of my friends at the show told me that I can do the same stuff I do in Photoshop in Illustrator and that He JUST uses Illustrator. I'll have to go back and retry them. Anyway I have a few more new prints that I am working on. Also I have 3 new sites coming...so stay tune!!!

Bake Craze...

Last week I went on a bake craze. I needed a break from Nanamation and just needed some time to do something else so I baked. I love to bake.

I decided to bake my famous organic apple crumble pie for my co-workers. They came out out great. I am really proud of my pies..I worked hard to perfect the pie recipe and I am happy to say I have mastered the art of making pies. This is an apple crumble so no pie crust on top...its just crumbles. I also brought some Mitchell's Vanilla Ice Cream to go with it.

Next my friend had a baby so I wanted to make her a basket full of goodies. So I baked chewy chocolate chip cookies..it was thick and chewy. The secret? You take them out while its still kinda doughy in the middle and let it back on the hot cookiesheet. Also its a different recipe than the thin crispy ones.

I also baked some buttered Spritz cookies. To get the fun shape I used my icing container pipe. One of these days I am going to invest in one of those nice Ateco Piping bag and tips. Its on my amazon wishlist to remind myself to get them. I think I'll purchase them soon. I am dying to make cupcakes again. And I also made raisin/cinnamon bread from my lovely bread maker.
